Patient Preparation - MRI of Abdomen/Pelvis
Do not eat or drink 3 hours prior to your exam.
Patient Preparation - MRI of Prostate
Follow the instructions for Fleet Enema Kit #1 one hour before arriving at the imaging center.
Patient Preparation - CT (CAT) Scan with Intravenous Contrast
Drink fluids beginning 24 hours before the exam and up to 4 hours before the exam, and then take nothing by mouth. If the scan is in the morning, drink only clear liquids after midnight. If the scan is in the afternoon, eat a regular breakfast followed by clear liquids for up to 4 hours prior to the exam, and then take nothing by mouth. However, you may take medications with small sips of water.
Patient Preparation - CT Scan of Abdomen/Pelvis with IV Contrast
Drink fluids beginning 24 hours before the exam and up to 4 hours before the exam, and then take nothing by mouth. If the scan is in the morning, drink clear liquids only after midnight. If the scan is in the afternoon, eat a regular breakfast followed by clear liquids for up to 4 hours prior to the exam, and then take nothing by mouth. However, you may take medications with small sips of water.
Arrive 60 minutes before your scheduled appointment time.
Patient Preparation - Ultrasound - Pelvic Ultrasound
Eat normally. One hour before your exam, drink 40 ounces (five glasses) of non-carbonated fluids. Do not urinate.
Patient Preparation - Abdominal Ultrasound
Do not eat or drink 8 hours before your exam. However, you may take medications with small sips of water.
