Indications - CT

CT Medical Necessity

  • BONES NEED BETTER CHARACTERIZATION AFTER INDETERMINATE X-RAY OR MRI
  • MASS LESIONS, CANCER
  • BLEED
  • INFECTION
  • NEOPLASIA/CANCER:  Initial diagnosis, assessment of interval changes
  • TRAUMA


CT INDICATIONS - NOT ACCEPTABLE:

  • Pain without saying the location, duration, severity, and possible diagnoses that are being pursued.


CT Abdomen (Lots of Indications)

  • Make sure that the history relates to the abdominal organs.
  • Location (Quadrant), Severity, Duration....

CT Chest

  • Lung Nodule/Mass
  • Further Characterization of x-ray findings

CT Abdomen

  • Liver Mass
  • Kidney Mass
  • Splenic Mass
  • Bowel Obstruction

CT Pelvis

  • Appendicitis

Results are read by an on-site radiologist or a teleradiologist (a radiologist who works off-site)
